President Donald Trump has renewed his push to fire Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell via Truth Social, stating that Powell’s termination cannot come fast enough. This isn’t the first time Trump has clashed with Powell, who Trump has blamed for being too slow to cut interest rates. Trump believes faster rate cuts would boost the economy and his political standing. However, the bigger issue is about control. If Trump manages to fire Powell, it could change how markets view the FED’s independence, potentially rattling not just Wall Street but the crypto market too. Senator Elizabeth Warren also warned that removing Powell would break the trust that holds financial markets together.
